Megan was my girl from the moment she saw me. She was a year old and I had no experience showing a dog except as an obedience competitor. I had two young children (one was just 1 year old.) and was dying to get into conformation exhibiting. The number of shows I was able to enter was limited by time, distance and finances.
Megan taught me all she knew about movement and cooperation. She was a delightful companion and loved children though she had not seen any until she came to live with me. In fact she preferred children to adults given a choice. We also spent time visiting nursing homes before the time that Therapy Dog titles were required. She never met a stranger and was gentle and loving with everyone.
This lovely girl finished her championship on the point with her somewhat inept handler on Mother's Day of 1981. She was then bred twice to Ch. Carrenderry Cornelius and had two lovely litters. Of the six puppies I finished two, all but finished a third that I did not own (needed 4 single points) and pointed a fourth (who was small and also did not belong to me.)
Megan's obedience career included finishing a CD in 3 shows with no score lower than 189. We trained through open obedience but I never got the hang of how to convince her to continue working after she made an error. Guess she was like her handler, a perfectionist.
